The Story So Far .....

Roscommon Solstice Choir was formed in February 2013 as part of The Gathering. It consists of over one hundred members from all over Roscommon and outside it. All are volunteers who give freely of their time to travel to practice and to concerts. The choir is under the direction of Eimear and Andrew Reynolds from Roosky, Co Roscommon.

In addition to the singers, there are many volunteers who work in various ways to ensure that concerts run smoothly and that much needed funds are raised. The choir is a true community undertaking and the goodwill that has, and continues to surround it, is truly incredible!

Initially the choir was to perform three concerts, called the Roscommon Solstice Concerts, in June 2013 and then disband. However, due to the unbelievable success of the initial concerts it was decided to set the choir on a permanent basis. A total of fifteen concerts were performed the first year and €26,000 was raised for charity. The Choir sang for nearly 7,000 people that year.

Roscommon Solstice Choir continued to flourish throughout 2014 and beyond and performs two programmes each year â€“ Summer and Christmas. A total of seven concerts were given in 2014, raising in excess of €18,000 for various charities. Apart from Roscommon the Choir performed in Sligo and in Portlaoise, in the company of the exceptional Francis Black.

One of the highlights was a performance in the magnificent Sacred Heart Church, Roscommon on the 22nd June, in the company of Charlie McGettigan and Sandy Kelly. Another highlight was accompanying Fr. Liam Lawton in concert in this same building on 17th December in aid of the Join Our Boys Trust.

The underlying theme of all our concerts is one of inspiration and hope for the future. The combination of powerful inspirational music and song performed in a majestic, historical setting has led to an emotional, spiritual reward for attendees and performers alike.

The choir will continue to provide its services for as long as anyone wants us. We hope to see you at one or more of our events.
